Choose Tourism

In partnership with the Australian Government and Victorian State Government, VTIC is working with industry partners to deliver on a number of projects for the Choose Tourism Program.

The Choose Tourism Program is designed to attract workers to the tourism industry by:

  • Promoting a career in tourism to school leavers and young people
  • Attracting domestic workers to tourism including First Nations Australians
  • Promoting existing work rights for people on an aged pension and tourism businesses
  • Communicating to tourism industry associations and visitor economy businesses on how to employ people with a disability
  • Promoting tourism as a career of choice to cohorts underrepresented in the tourism industry.

Choose Tourism Careers Expo

The Choose Tourism Careers Expo will showcase the dynamic and diverse career pathways that exist in the tourism and events industry, whilst providing an opportunity for businesses, training providers and employment services to directly engage with job seekers and prospective students.

The Expo is taking place on Tuesday 18 June 2024 at Melbourne Showgrounds.

Typsy micro-credentialing

VTIC has partnered with Typsy to provide Victorian businesses with a micro-credentialing program that provides fundamental customer service, hospitality and tourism skilling solutions. The program aims to provide an opportunity to support workers and workplaces across Victoria by providing focused training in specific customer service skills to better support employees and businesses to adopt innovations and improve productivity.

Young Tourism Network 

Young Tourism Network (YTN) takes pride in providing students and industry newcomers with opportunities to build strong relationships, gain access to up-to-date knowledge and grow professionally. In 2024, YTN will be delivering a number of projects that will foster connectivity, build capacity and inspire the next generation of tourism leaders. These projects include: the Launchpad Program, the Emerging Tourism Leaders Summit and the YTN Tourism Ambassador Program.
